Facebook for Android

Facebook is a social networking app by Meta Platforms, Inc. that connects people through a centralized feed of posts, photos, videos, and messages. It addresses the need to stay in touch with friends, family, and communities by offering a single platform for sharing updates, joining groups, messaging, and discovering content tailored to your interests. The app solves the problem of fragmented communication by integrating social posting, private messaging, video calls, and community spaces into one interface. It uses an algorithmic feed that you can personalize, along with tools for creating and sharing content, to keep you engaged with the people and topics that matter most. With features like Marketplace, groups, reels, and AI-powered assistance, it aims to be a versatile hub for both personal connection and interest exploration. The app is free to use but includes ads and in-app purchases, and it requires Android 11 or higher.

What's New

The latest update, released October 14, 2026, brings the ability to like posts, photos, and Pages even when you're offline. You can now remove tags you've created or tags of yourself added by friends, and toggle post notifications on or off. This version also includes general improvements for speed and reliability.

This app is for anyone who wants to stay connected with friends, family, and communities, whether for personal updates, group discussions, or discovering new interests. It suits both casual users who check in occasionally and power users who actively create content, join many groups, or use Marketplace for buying and selling. The wide range of features means it can serve as a primary social platform, but the extensive permissions and ads make it better suited for those comfortable with the trade-offs of a large, feature-rich social network.

To get the most out of the app, take time to personalize your Feed settings and manage your notification preferences. If you're concerned about privacy, review and adjust the permissions you grant during installation, and use the app's built-in settings to control who sees your posts and profile information.

Facebook remains a powerful and versatile social platform, offering a broad set of tools for connection and self-expression. However, its heavy permissions, ads, and in-app purchases mean you should weigh the benefits against the potential impact on privacy and device storage.
