Spotify: Music and Podcasts: music and audio app

Spotify: Music and Podcasts is an entertainment app by Spotify AB that streams music, podcasts, and audiobooks on Android devices. It opens a catalog of over 80 million songs, 4 million podcasts, and more than 300,000 audiobook titles, with a free tier that supports ad-supported listening and a Premium subscription for offline playback and uninterrupted sessions.

The app is built around discovery: you can search by lyric, explore genre-based categories, follow daily mixes tailored to your taste, and subscribe to favorite podcasts so new episodes land in your own curated library. Playlists can be created, shared, or bookmarked, and the service carries exclusive podcast titles alongside mainstream artists.

For experienced users weighing alternatives, it is a full-featured streaming client that spans phones, tablets, TV, and wearables, but it comes with a sizable install footprint and a long list of permissions. It suits anyone willing to trade some privacy and storage for one of the largest on-demand audio catalogs available.

It is for experienced Android users who want a mainstream streaming solution with deep catalog access, flexible playlist tools, and cross-device listening. It also fits podcast listeners and audiobook fans, though those sensitive to data collection may want to review permissions and opt-out options before installing.

Use lyric search to pin down hard-to-name tracks, subscribe to podcasts for automatic episode updates, and disable Nielsen measurement under app settings if you prefer not to contribute to audience research. Free users can save data by limiting streaming quality in playback settings.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts delivers one of the broadest audio catalogs on Android, balancing a robust free experience with upgrade options. It is a solid choice for experienced users, provided they accept its size and permissions.
